Do you know what WiFi is? In the world, there have been many years of Internet coming in the world but do you know how difficult it was to get an Internet Connection. Internet was born from the network. The only way to send any information digitally in the past was to cables the only way. Internet Connection was only taken from cables. But you will know that we always like to work with comfort and without any hassle. I mean we think about how the internet could work without the cable.

Due to day-to-day changes, Computer Scientist finally created a wireless Technology that called WiFi Nowadays everyone knows about this wireless technology. The new generation of young people is connected to the Internet through wireless technology. So let's know in detail what is Wi-Fi?

What is Wi-Fi?

WiFi is a technology that offers network connectivity using the radio wave.

Hotspots are made to an adapter for WiFi connection, usually a wireless router, and connect to it for other devices such as laptops, mobiles, TVs, game consoles, or PC internet access.

After configuring WiFi, it broadcasts from 2.4GHz to 5GHz frequencies, depending on the size of the data.

Wi-Fi is a popular wireless networking technology that uses radio signals for wireless high-speed internet and network connections.

One common assumption is that Wi-Fi has come from the word "Wireless Fidelity", but this is not true. Wi-Fi is only a trademark phrase which means IEEE 802.11x.

What is Wifi Connection?

Typically, a router for WiFi in the home or office is equipped with an Internet cable coming from the external ISP. Then this internet connection is configured in this router. Later, all the devices connected to this router get internet connectivity.

How Wi-Fi Networks Works?

The easiest way to understand Wi-Fi is to use Wi-Fi in a home or office, for example. It contains a device that transmits a wireless signal this is usually a router or hotspot.

Cable connections from outside are connected to it and it establishes communication network through all the devices around it, such as laptops or wireless signals on mobile.

In other ways, there is a hotspot device; this shares the internet with other devices through wireless signals.

No matter how Wi-Fi is being used or the source of connection, the result is always the same: a wireless signals so that other devices connect to the main transmitter for communication.

Most mobile devices, video game systems, TVs and other standalone devices now also support Wi-Fi, making it easy to connect to wireless networks.

When a device realizes the Wi-Fi connection with the router, it can communicate with the router and other devices on the network.

However, to give Internet access to connected devices, it is important to first connect the router with the Internet.

WiFi Frequencies

  • The frequency level of a wireless network is 2.4 GHz or 5GHz, depending on the data sent by the user. 802.11 rely on the needs of the users to some degree of networking standards.

  • 802.11a network standard transmits data at 5GHz frequency level. In this, you can transmit up to 54 megabytes of data per second.

  • 802.11b network standard transmits data at the frequency level of 2.4GHz. It is slow speed and you can transmit maximum of 11 megabytes of data per second.

  • 802.11g network standard transmits data at the frequency level of 2.4 GHz. But you can transmit a maximum of 54 megabytes of data per second because it uses OFDM coding.

  • 802.11n network standard transmits data at the frequency level of 5 GHz. And you can transmit up to 140 megabytes of data per second.

Advantages of WIFI

1. Users of such wireless networks can access the Internet from any convenient location. This is best for laptops or mobile phones.

2. Users can access the Internet by connecting their home to the private and public wireless networks at any time. For example, most coffee shops or malls give internet access for free to their customers.

3. Users connected to a wireless network can increase their productivity by virtually connecting their laptop to a private or public wireless network largely fine. When talking, video and audio downloading have nothing faster than Wi-Fi.

4. For wireless networks, you do not need any physical cable to save network costs. Also, labour costs are saved as well.

5. You do not need to spend extra to increase the number of users in the wireless network compared to the wired connection. Many users connect the same router at the same time.

Disadvantages of WiFi

1. Security: Wireless networks are easier to hack than wired networks.

2. Range: The range of Wi-Fi signals depend on the model of your router. Normally the range of router used at home can range from 150 feet to 300 feet. If you need more range then you need to buy Repeaters or Access Points.
