Samsung Company History


Where did the Samsung company originate? Know here the entire history of the Samsung company.

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Moon Jae-in have unveiled the world's largest mobile manufacturing plant in India. This plant spreads in Noida Sector 81 about 35 acres of land.

Samsung's name is also one of the legendary smartphone maker companies. Its history is quite old. Did you know that the Samsung company was started as a company not as a technology company but as a food company? In this post, I am telling you about Samsung company history.

Samsung Company History

The Samsung company Founded on March 1, 1938, by Lee Byung-Chull, Lee Byung-Chull has established the company. At that time the company would export noodle making items, dough, and fish to other countries including China. After the Korean war, Lee Byung-Chull started sugar refinery in Busan named Cheil Jedang.

In 1947, Cho Hong-Jai, founder of Hyosung Group, jointly invested with Samsung's founder Lee Byung-Chul, in a new company, Samsung Mulsan Gongsa, or the Samsung Trading Corporation. The trading firm nowadays has grown to become the Samsung C & T Corporation. After a few years, Cho Hong-Jai and Lee Byung-Chull were separated due to differences in management style. Samsung Group was separated into Samsung Group and Hyosung Group, Hankook Tire and other businesses.

In 1954 Lee Byung-Chul founded Cheil Mojik and built the plant in Chimsan-dong, the largest woolen mill ever in the country.


In 1960 stepped on the market of Samsung Electronics. In the year 1969, the company played bets in the technical field. The company launched Samsung Electronics this year. In the year 1970, the company launched it's first Black & White TVs, and just two months after the production it exported the TV sets to Panama.

In 1972 Samsung set up a Braun-tube bulb factory and after extensive investment and expansion of production lines.

In 1978 Samsung reached 5 million milestones in the number of  TVs produced and expanded its black-and-white TV lines to become the world's No. 1 manufacturer. Samsung  Semiconductor and Samsung Electronics became separate entities.

In 1983 Samsung started to make personal computers and succeeded in developing an 8-bit PC (SPC-1000) as well as upgrading information processing technologies.


After Lee's death in 1987, Samsung was divided into three parts: Samsung Heavy Industries, Samsung Shipbuilding, and Samsung Precision Company (Samsung Techwin).


In the year 1990, Samsung was born in the form of INTERNATIONAL corporation. Samsung company is the world's largest smartphone manufacturer. Samsung Group is a South Korean multinational organization headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul. It includes many affiliated businesses, Most of them are united under the Samsung brand, and this is the largest South Korean business group.

In 1992, Samsung turned into the world's biggest maker of memory chips and is the world's second-biggest chipmaker after Intel. Development of 250MB hard disc drive and the world's first 64M DRAM completed.

In 1995, it made its first liquid crystal display screen. After ten years, Samsung grew to be the world's biggest producer of liquid crystal display panels. Sony, which had not invested in large-size TFT-LCDs. Reached Samsung to cooperate, and, in 2006, S-LCD was set up as a joint venture between Samsung and Sony in order to provide a steady supply of LCD panels for both manufacturers. S-LCD was owned by Samsung and Sony. Since 2006, the company has been the top-selling worldwide manufacturer of TVs.

In 1995 Samsung imposed its first plant in India. The plant was planted in Sriperumbudur before Noida. Apart from this, there are five R & D centers in the country.


In 2000, witnessed the introduction of Samsung's mobile phone series, which rapidly turned into the company's most-praised product as well as habitually topped yearly lists of the best-selling mobile phones on the world. Starting in 2010, the Galaxy series extended to tablet computers with the introduction of the Galaxy Tab. In 2012, Samsung Electronics turned into the world's biggest mobile phone maker by unit sales. Overtaking Nokia, which had been the market leader since 1998. As of 2012, Samsung is the world's largest selling mobile phone company.

In India, Samsung has employed 70,000 people. The company has 1.5 lakh retail outlets in the country. The mobile business revenue of the company is Rs 34,400 crore in 2016-17. Also, if it talks about its sales, it is worth 50,000 crores.
