Xiaomi, which has become the number one company in the Indian smartphone market, has launched a new smartphone Mi A3, expanding its product portfolio in India. This smartphone has been launched in the market at an initial price of Rs 12,999, which is equipped with features such as triple rear camera and Google Android One.

Tech company Realme, which has successfully completed one year in India, is considered to be a tough competitor of Xiaomi. Realme also brings smartphones equipped with great specifications at a low price like Xiaomi. On 20th Aug, Realme launched two new devices in India, Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro.

In the low budget segment, Realme 5 is being described as a threat to Xiaomi Mi A3. Both these phones are going to be available for sale on the online platform this month.


In such a situation, if you are also thinking of getting a new phone and in confusion, whether to take Xiaomi Mi A3 or Realme 5, then I have done a comparative study of the specifications of both the smartphones, which will tell whether the Xiaomi Mi A3 is the best or Realme 5 is better. So let's start.

Display and design

The Xiaomi Mi A3 is offered by the company at a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio that supports 6.08-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display with 1560 x 720 pixels resolution. To protect the screen, it has been protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The Mi A3 is equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor of the 7th generation. On the other hand, Realme 5 has a 6.5-inch HD + LCD display. To protect the phone screen, it has been protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3+. Both these smartphones have Waterdrop Notch Display.

The rear camera setup on the back panel of both the Mi A3 and Realme 5 is given in the vertical shape on the left. While Realme 5 has 4 rear camera sensors, the Mi A3 rear camera setup has 3 sensors. The fingerprint sensor is present on the back panel of Realme 5, while it is missing from Mi A3. In Xiaomi Mi A3, the volume rocker and power button are given on the right panel, while the Realme 5 has the volume rocker on the left panel and the power button on the right panel.

OS and processor

Xiaomi Mi A3 has been introduced on Android 9 Pie-based Android One OS which will be equipped as soon as Android 10 rolls out in India. At the same time, Realme 5 has been introduced on Android 9.0 Pie. Both these smartphones run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 665 AIE chipset built on 11nm technology with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz. Likewise, both Realme 5 and Xiaomi Mi A3 phones support Adreno 610 GPU for graphics.

RAM and Storage

Xiaomi Mi A3 has been launched by the company in two variants. The phone supports 64 GB of internal storage with the base variant 4 GB RAM and 128 GB internal memory with 6 GB RAM has been given in the other variants. Storage in both these variants can be increased up to 256 GB via microSD card.


Realme 5 has been launched in India in three variants. The smallest variant of the phone supports 32 GB of storage with 3 GB of RAM. Similarly, 4 GB RAM has been given in the second variant of the phone, which is launched with 64 GB internal storage and 128 GB internal memory. microSD card up to 256 GB can also be used in this phone.

Photography segment

Xiaomi Mi A3 has been launched on the triple rear camera. A 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor with F/1.79 aperture + 8-megapixel wide-angle lens with F/2.2 aperture + 2-megapixel depth sensor is provided on the back panel of the phone. At the same time, the Mi A3 supports a 32-megapixel front camera with F/2.0 aperture for video calling and selfies.

The company has launched Realme 5 on the quad rear camera. The back panel of the phone has a 12-megapixel primary sensor with F/1.8 aperture + 8-megapixel wide-angle lens with F/2.2 aperture + 2-megapixel portrait + 2-megapixel macro lens. For selfie Realme 5  supports a 13-megapixel front camera with F/2.0 aperture.

Battery

Xiaomi Mi A3 has been launched by the company with a 4030 mAh battery. The phone's battery supports 18W fast charging with Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Significantly, a 10W charger will also be available with the Mi A3 box.

Just to give a summary of the specifications, the chipset of Realme 5 and Xiaomi Mi A3 is the same. While the rear camera sensors are more in Realme 5, the Mi A3 has more rear megapixels. Xiaomi Mi A3 is ahead in the selfie camera, Realme 5 is above in battery and display size. In the 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage variants of both phones, Realme 5 is Rs 2,000 cheaper than Xiaomi Mi A3.
